About
14 Friends Of Palestine
To help end the suffering of Palestinians under the Israeli occupation,
and to help bring peace in the Middle East without resorting to violence,
anti-Semitism, (or having to drive over the Richmond Bridge).
On Saturday 4th December 2004, a group of 14 friends met in Marin
to discuss how they could help reduce the suffering of the Palestinian
people under the Israeli Occupation.
Several small fundraisers were planned, as well as various outreach
projects. These have continued ever since.
Most of the big organizations helping the Palestinians are in the
East San Francisco Bay, (Jewish Voice for Peace, Middle East Children’s
Alliance, Americans for A Palestinian State, International Solidarity
Movement, to name just a few). However, there are many people here
in Marin that want to help the Palestinians without having to drive
to the East Bay. So we organize fundraisers and do other projects here
in Marin.
Our goal is to provide a pool of people here in Marin to help any
of the big organizations in any way they need us.
Anyone is welcome to join us. Members choose which projects they
wish to get involved with. You don’t have to take part in everything!
It goes without saying, however, that anyone promoting violence or
anti-Semitism will not be welcomed amongst us. Criticism of the Israeli
government’s land-grabbing policies at the expense of the Palestinian
people, and their demolition of Palestinian homes, however, is another
matter.
We also provide educational materials to local schools, such
as the book ‘A Little Piece of Ground’ by
Elizabeth Laird.
